In two parallel exhibitions, oxyd – Kunsträume and Kunsthaus Zofingen honor the versatile artistic oeuvre of Renate Bodmer (Zofingen 1939–2020 Winterthur). To this day, her works are known only to a few art enthusiasts. Under the title Wundersamer Alltag (Wondrous Everyday), oxyd presents paintings, charcoal drawings, and prints that capture Bodmer's precise gaze on her surroundings. In her works, one finds seemingly insignificant objects, peculiar animal-like creatures, but also everyday scenes that in the next moment become artistic spectacles, revealing her penchant for the bizarre. And time and again, Renate Bodmer herself appears in the form of self-portraits, which in combination with her large-scale works bear witness to an atmosphere of self-empowerment.
As part of the 10th anniversary of the Salon der Gegenwart, to which Andrea Muheim also belonged, her work is complemented by additional painterly positions.
